The second annual Food Allergy Walk was held on October 1, 2011 at Mueller Park. Over 400 participants joined us on a sunny and beautiful Saturday morning to help support this important cause. Our team from The Food Allergy Specialists was very happy to sponsor and participate in the event. As the honorary medical chair for the 2011 walk, it was very gratifying to see so many of our patients and families enjoying the day.

There were many fun activities for all. Performer Kyle Dine entertained the crowd with his songs and stories relating first hand his experiences with food allergies. There was an inflatable bouncy house, a fire truck, safe snacks for the kids, many fun giveaways, and a balloon clown. The event has grown from the initial walk in 2010, with more sponsors, over 100 more walkers and raised over $10,000 more than the first year. What a nice trend we hope will continue with future walks.

Aside from raising over $40,000 for the Food Allergy Network, the walk is important in so many other ways. It is a wonderful means to advance the mission of food allergy awareness, advocacy, and education. There is not a better way to raise the sense of community for the many food allergy families. Many children with food allergies may feel they are all alone and the walk is a great way to meet other children with the same food allergies who face the same challenges on a daily basis.

It was nice to see so many of our food allergy families at the walk!
